GED

Some ghosts refuse to be buried. Growing up in Glasgow's Southside in the 1970s and 80s, Ged Geraghty learns that survival comes at a cost. In a home scarred by addiction and violence, Mammy struggles to cope while Faither disappears deeper into alcoholism and rage.

But Ged's greatest fear isn't the chaos around him — it's becoming the man he hates. As he battles temptation and self-destruction, a death changes everything, and an unexpected mentor offers a way out: education, opportunity and the chance to escape. Yet the past holds tight.

GED is a raw and unflinching coming-of-age novel, where survival and identity collide with poverty, violence, addiction and sectarianism. Often brutal, but ultimately hopeful, this story of resilience, family and redemption asks one inescapable question: can you ever break free from the past?
